METER BOX RELOCATION/UPGRADE

Meter Boxes may need to be re-located and upgraded for many different reasons. You may wish to shift the position of your meter box due to a renovation, or, your existing box may be damaged or rusting away.

Benefits of a switchboard upgrade

An upgrade your switchboard is essential for safety & to ensure it meets current Australian Standards. Some of the features of modern switchboards include:

• Modern switchboards do not have fuses they have automatic trip circuit breakers and safety switches.
• If a circuit is overloaded, by plugging in too many appliances, the circuit breaker will automatically turn off. You can easily reset a circuit breaker after reducing the load. Replacing fuse wire can be difficult & dangerous as there are live terminals exposed with the fuse out. You also run the risk of not replacing the fuse wire with the correct size. This can cause inconvenience if it is too small or fire if it is too big!
• On new switchboards wiring is generally not exposed, this can save your electrical cables from damage & potential electric shock.
• A safety switch can save lives! It requires a very small amount of earth fault current to operate. In the event of a fault the switch would operate before a shock could be received.
